- Resumen
- Although the origins of this civilization date back to the Classic period (300-900 C.E.), the cultural affiliation of its ancient inhabitants is unknown. This has therefore been called Tajín Culture due to the unique characteristics of its architectural, sculptural, and pictorial style. Its inhabitants built extensive platforms in both the central area and its surroundings, raising sets of monuments between which they distributed plazas, courtyards, roads, and Ball Game courts. The latter area is a distinctive feature of this society, making it the city with the second highest number of courts in Mesoamerica. Its residential areas and other ceremonial and administrative complexes are distributed on the natural elevations surrounding the valley.
