- Located in the city’s historic center, the Regional Museum of San Luis Potosí occupies the service courtyards, corridors, and library of a Franciscan monastery whose construction began in 1591. The Reform Laws brought about the disappearance of the monasterial institution and replaced it with workshops, a school of arts and crafts, a funeral home, and housing. The Regional Museum of San Luis Potosí came into being on November 20, 1952. In 2004, it received the Cultural Heritage Conservation Award from the state government, INAH, and the San Luis Potosí College of Architects in recognition of the architectural restoration and museum restructuring that commenced in 1949, when INAH received the building.
