The interior of this rich Cathedral is a sligth worth going miles to see. Its architectural beauties and the richness of its altar, chapels, pictures, and ornaments give it a poqerful appeal to the lover of beautiful ecclesiastical buildings. But to the Mexicans, especially to the Indian parte or their population, the sacred shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe has particular appeal, for it was to an Indian, the lowly Juan Diego, that the holy Virgin is believed to have appeared. The day of all days to see the Christianized Indian population of the central parte of Mexico is the twelfth of dicember, the day of the Feast of the Virgin of Guadalupe. And the place of all palces in which to see them on that dday is at the Virgin's shrine. For two or three days before the twelfth of December immense crowds of Indias from far and near may be seen along the roads leading to Guadalupe. Often the traverse the distance between Mexico and Guadalupe on their knees, their heads bowed and their hands folded in prayer. At this time or the Feast of the Virgen, one finds the Plaza in front or the Cathedral crowded with a brightly clad throng of people among whom move to and for, venders of all kinds selling mostly candless and votive offerings. Hundreds of tortilleras sit before their braziers, molding the torillas (tor-tel'yäs) from piles of dough which they hold in their laps. Copyright by The Keystone View Company". La estereoscópica pertenece al Altar mayor de la Basilica de Guadalupe. Se ubica en el Cerro del Tepeyac. Es el principal recinto católico de América y uno de los más visitados en el mundo, anualmente unos veinte millones de peregrinos visitan el santuario, de los cuales cerca de nueve millones lo hacen en los días cercanos al 12 de diciembre día en que se festeja a la Virgen María de Guadalupe. El recinto está conformado por varias iglesias y edificios entre los cuales destacan: Templo Expiatorio a Cristo Rey, Capilla del Pocito, Parroquia de Capuchinas, Capilla de Indios y Museo de la Basílica de Guadalpe, entre otras.
